The first step was to install Oxygen sensors, lots of people on
the megasquirt forums are obsessed with wide band and I am sure it is better
than the normal oxygen sensor but I just want my car to run well and
economically so i installed normal narrowband sensors. the other thing about O2
sensors is that they all work the same way so figure out if you need heated or
not and then buy the cheapest one you can find on ebay.
I needed heated as I installed them away from the manifolds and
wanted them to heat fast. I got 2 GM O2 sensors for $10 for both plus shipping.
I got a piece of exhaust slightly bigger than my exhaust and cut it in half and
then welded in the sensor bungs as I am chicken and didn't want to weld on my
exhaust pines upside down.
I actually installed 2 Oxygen sensors, one on each pipe as I am
going to run an air/fuel ration gauge off the second O2 sensor, that way I can
see that both banks are behaving the same and those air / fuel ratio gauges just
fascinate me! below are pictures of the air fuel mix on and off, its reading
rich as i had just started the car to get the picture and the cold start
enrichment is on (Seattle in November)
